St Andrew’s Day 2025

The 2025 LSSGS St Andrew’s Day event was held on Friday 28th November once again at Clandon Regis GC.

Blessed in glorious weather 20 teams lined up for the annual St Andrew’s Greensomes. 16 Scottish schools were represented with Kelvinside Academy and Daniel Stewart’s and Melville College to the fore

The club treated the participants to a sumptuous traditional lunch comprising cullen skink, haggis, neeps and tatties followed by cranachan. The haggis was supplied by the award winning butchers McCaskies of Wemyss Bay – www.mccaskiebutcher.co.uk. The clubhouse and course were bedecked in Saltires, Lions Rampant and Scottish heraldry. Ron Paterson (Liberton HS) looking magnificent, played a medley of Scottish songs, piped in the haggis and gave a rousing “Address to a Haggis”. Dave Shaw (Boroughmuir HS) gave a most witty speech culminating in reciting “To a Mouse”. This was followed by Andy Landsburgh (High School of Dundee) giving a “Toast to the Lassies” which was very entertaining, topical and not too political! Sue Lindsay responded so eloquently and poignantly on behalf of the ladies.
